Antoni in the Kitchen by Mindy Fox, Antoni Porowski

informative medium-paced

As part of the Read Harder Challenge, I had to read a cookbook cover to cover, which did not seem like an appealing task. However, since I'm a huge Queer Eye fan and this is the closest thing we have to a memoir from Antoni, I decided this would be the perfect cookbook for this task. I wasn't wrong. Not only does this cookbook give you a glimpse into Antoni's life through the blurbs describing the significance of each dish, but each recipe's instructions are full of his personal voice. I would read certain phrases and hear Antoni in my head. The recipes are a mix of accessible meals that anyone could manage and more difficult options you could break out for a dinner party or holiday. There are definitely a few I'll be making at some point. By the end of this book, you'll know more about Antoni as a person, and you'll have a pretty good idea of his favorite ingredients. (Marcona almonds and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, anyone?) If you enjoy all types of cuisine, check this book out.
