School Spirits by Rachel Hawkins

4.0

I was lucky enough to get approved from NetGalley an eARC of School Spirits the first book in the spin-off to Rachel Hawkins' Hex Hall series, which I absolutely adored! In School Spirits Izzy Brannick is the main character, and after her sister Finn has gone missing and there have been no leads to where she is, Izzy and her mom take on a small case in Ideal, Mississippi.

The case is a haunting at the local high school, Izzy goes undercover as a student to try to figure out who the ghost is, and luckily for Izzy there is a Ghost hunting club at school called PMS (Paranormal Management Society) which basically consists of Romy, Anderson, AND Dex. Izzy gets herself an in with the group but she senses something a little different about Dex and she doesn't think it's just hormones she's feeling when she touches him, Izzy thinks he may have a Prodigium side to him, the thing is does Dex know? To top it off the Ghost vanquishing isn't going as easily as Izzy thought.

This book was a fun read and a good set up for future instalments it had aspects similar to Hex Hall, however, the book fell a bit short for me, I am a huge Rachel Hawkins fan and I think her sense of humour and her books are ah-mazing but I was expecting so much from School Spirits I might have over hyped it a bit for myself. Overall, it was a good read and I can't wait for the next book.
