The Iliad by Homer

2.0

I do not doubt the Iliad's importance to literature overall but this translated edition was disappointing.

The large number of characters did not help. There were so many named people who majority were given some short background then only to be killed in the next page.

Next the dialogue was also a pain for me. I have no hatred for flowery text and conversations but I felt this style of writing used in this translated edition was annoying.

I was really disappointed because the concept of gods using is an interesting concept, but this version failed to do so for me.

I recommend reading the Odyssey which is more digestible and fun to read
