A Vindication of the Rights of Woman
by Mary Shelley
This is an amazing and admirable piece of early feminist literature and I think more people should read it.
It speaks of the hard times that women faced, having to put up with disadvantage after disadvantage. Wollstonecraft speaks of the difficulties and challenges that face them, but that women must stand up to change and to stop the mistreatment of them by men and society.
She speaks powerfully, passionately and with sarcasm which I loved.
Some of the topics she speaks of still apply to the treatment of women today which is also powerful.
I admire Mary Wollsotone craft very much now. She admits that many people in the time she was writing it will laugh at her, men and women alike, and think her ideas silly. But still, she perseveres and passionately pursues what she thinks is right.
She definitely needs more credit.
