My Body by Emily Ratajkowski

4.0

quick notes: emily ratajkowski turns out to be a shrewd and excellent writer. she has her way with words, which successfully makes this debut a quite appealing read. she’s eloquent in expressing her thoughts and feelings and describing her experiences. i constantly felt disgust and goosebumps with her, and i even cursed jonathan leder a lot too. however, while she spilled cold hard truths on the modeling industry and its paradoxes and hypocrisy on women’s bodily authority, i didn’t think i saw where her discussion was going. in other words, i was expecting to see emily’s attempts to at least resolve her situations and feelings, or if allowed, to see her starting a change in the industry. but unfortunately there is not any. this book is more of a reflective one, i would say. as the title implies, this book revolves around em’s figuring out to whom her body actually belongs and to what limit her body should be exposed.
