Snow White, Blood Red by Ellen Datlow, Terri Windling
1.0

For a book having two editors, I was rather annoyed by the number of typographical and grammatical errors. After the third or fourth, they really started to stand out, and made it frustrating to keep reading.

The stories themselves are... all over the place. Some are good, others are just... Sigh. I feel like they were gratuitously graphic and dark just for the sake of it. It wasn't telling a good story or making any kind of moral point. It was violence and gore and dark erotica for the sake of it. I had high hopes given that this included work from some of my favorite authors (Neil Gaiman, Jane Yolen, Charles de Lint), but I was just so disappointed. It reached a point where I seriously considered just putting it down and the only reason I finished it was to clear a prompt for one of my reading challenges.
