I'm not usually a lover of short stories but I got through this just fine. It's engaging as it's thought provoking. It highlights the role of the subconscious in a lot of our decision making. It also brings forth the inner contradictions that we all possess displaying how the cognitive dissonances may present themselves in reality. Simple actions and behaviour undergo inspection into its origins and intents. Thankfully nothing too clinical. A friendly reminder to self reflect on one's own thoughts and behaviours. Does it mean we're reduced to animalistic urges? Certainly not. However, they do exert a significant force in our everyday lives. The book also focuses on themes of vanity and narcissism present in us all. The extent of our self-absorption is ridiculous at times and that's why this book is almost comical in a way. The book is not life changing and it doesn't intend to be, I believe. And there in lies its strength.
