The Conference of the Birds
by Ransom Riggs
3.5 stars
This book was not as suspenseful as the other ones. I wanted to keep reading, but mostly because of the characters and the developments they undergo than for the plot. Jakob finds himself in new predicaments with a challenging prophecy, and what it means for him and the other peculiars may be worse than what they first thought. I like that Jakob is getting older (not literally, you know what I mean), he seems more confident in his powers and his actions. I guess bringing up new characters and a different and new spin on the story is slowing the pace a little, making me very curious about how the next book will go, since this one was mostly a set up for the next book. I still want to join the squad, pretty sure I would risk my life for most of them. Enoch, be nicer in the next book please and I might risk my life for you too.
