Okay, confession time: I wasn’t sold after book one. I went into Carnal Urges with low enjoyment expectations—and came out pleasantly surprised and wildly entertained.

Declan and Sloane’s banter? Top-tier. Peak chaos. The kind of sharp, sizzling dialogue that had me grinning like I was in on an inside joke. Sloane is unbothered, unfiltered, and utterly unbending in the face of danger, and Declan is the Irish mob boss who doesn’t know what hit him. Their chemistry crackled from the jump, and watching them verbally spar was like front-row seats to the sassiest UFC match ever.

Plot-wise, it’s still firmly planted in mafia-land (kidnapping, threats, violence, yada yada), and I’m still not sure I’m a full-fledged mafia romance girlie. But this book didn’t take itself too seriously—and that made all the difference.

3.5 stars for the ride I didn’t expect to enjoy but absolutely did.

If you’re here for a mouthy heroine, an Irish anti-hero who simmers, and banter that punches as hard as the action scenes—Carnal Urges might just win you over.
