The Unbearable Lightness of Being: by Milan Kundera, Milan Kundera

3.0

The book was utterly unbearable to read at some points, to be honest. I really wanted to give up reading, but I also wanted to know what happens to Tereza by the end of the book because I could associate with her a little bit. But at most times I felt Kundera was just beating around the bush. I was also confused many a times during the course of the book if she was mocking a perception or embracing it. I felt that maybe I am not smart enough to understand its “beauty”, but I think I was wrong. I am no intellectual. While there were a lot of beautiful lines and thoughts to ponder and lose myself to, I did feel it to be shallow too. Very mixed review, I know. But just how I felt!
