I had fun reading this book. There are many call backs to both the Hunger Games trilogy and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, but I feel like the story would still stand on its own even if people haven't read the other books. I thought it was paced a bit quickly and that we could have gotten to know some of the characters better, but I was still able to connect with many of the characters and was devastated when they died .
