Between the first and second halves of this sequel, it felt like the author was rushed to finish. The first half felt very drawn out, very detailed. Some parts were great, especially when we learned about the training required to escape the underworld as well as the amount of work it took the heroine to build her own council.

The second half felt completely rushed. The entire part within the underworld lacked detail and it felt unreal that the heroine would figure out how to defeat the undead army so quickly and dare I say easily? The build up to escaping the underworld was so much, the actual part there just felt like a let down.

I did love the heroines wish, in the end. It completely aligned with her character development.

Not sure I'll pick up any future books in this growing series, but we'll see.
