This is my second Rumaan Alam book and I think it's a style-issue rather than a concept issue. So many times in this book, I was confused about what happened and where we were. Because Alam goes in and out of each character's mindset in the first person, it can be difficult to keep track of the actual narrative. And perhaps that is another type of entitlement. As someone who works in nonprofit fundraising, the concepts in this book felt spot on and the moral quandary/degrees of entitlement one feels the closer they get to real money very much aligns with my experience. I didn't like Brooke, but I understood her.
