The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot

5.0

This is an incredible story of a woman who most people only know as HeLa. The cells that are used in labs throughout the world to test medicine and cures and treatments all came from a human being. Her name was Henrietta Lacks. She was an African American women who died of cervical cancer and her cells have literally changed the world. People generally have never heard of Henrietta Lacks, but she should be a household name. This book discusses the injustices that were done to Henrietta and her family. It delves into the history of health ethics and current issues. This is a wonderful read. Heartbreaking, fascinating, and educational.
