Our History Is the Future: Standing Rock Versus the Dakota Access Pipeline, and the Long Tradition of Indigenous Resistance by Nick Estes

challenging dark hopeful informative sad slow-paced

3.5

Somewhat dense and occasionally contradictory, I am absorbing multiple sources for overlapping histories to get at a more balanced truth of 19th c development in the US. What was new to me and fit my idea of things included the damming of the river for white settlements' water and energy needs, in the process flooding reservations and sacred sites. Parts of it could be clearer, but the organizing principle was the most important and winning element, worth a read for those unfamiliar.
