My Abandonment by Peter Rock
3.0

I knew this was based on a true story and I was hooked from the beginning but the last third/quarter of the book left me dazed and confused. There was so much beautiful writing in the beginning and the story was so compelling but it turned a corner and made me feel like the ending was so rushed - almost as if to meet an editors deadline. Maybe Caroline just hasn't been able to process her feelings about what happened to her father or maybe she didn't feel her story was worth telling without him as part of the narrative but I was left wanting to know more and for the ending to slow down a bit. A recommended read but just be warned that truth is stranger than fiction.
