High-Rise by J.G. Ballard

2.0

The premise of the story was good. I felt like the words/commentaries that were made did not strike a chord with me or maybe they were too sophisticated for me.

Its written in a way where I felt like I was observing people who were observing people and so I always felt somewhat removed from those characters. So as the high rise society began to break down, I couldn't quite get into it. Like damn Daniel why do you need reduce yourself to this animalistic nature, go get some food from the shops, we know you have the money.

Like the Snickers chocolate bar slogan goes: You're not you when you're hungry.
