Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi

Have you ever finished reading a book and you are saying "I definitely have to re-read this".

This was how I felt about "Transcendent Kingdom", it was so beautifully written and REAL. I laughed so hard at the depiction of the Ghanaian pastor because that is typically how it is in Caribbean churches and as a child I felt pretty much like Gifty (so so confused).

I loved the portrayal of how she viewed her brother and why it hurt it her so much that he went down the path that he did and why it has propelled her to even pursue this line of career.

The portrayal of the mother-daughter relationship was so well done and I got so emotional with how the mother treated Gifty after Nana's death (the turning point in their relationship--for me at least)

WOW, there is so much to be said about this read but it was a good one and by far a must read for everyone.
