This was a rough read. My expectations were influenced by high ratings here and on Amazon, however I was incredibly disappointed with how poorly written the dialogue and the characters were.

The protagonist seemingly knows everything about everything, and all of her flaws only serve to make her seem cooler (I cannot tell what the author was thinking in making her frequently drive after drinking).

The plot was so obvious the end made me groan out loud. The dialogue felt juvenile. For a book about a linguist, the language itself was trite.

This is the worst book I’ve read this year.
