Reading this one for the sake of introducing myself to the magic system before watching the TV show. Turn out, I enjoy it quite much I start binge reading the rest of trilogy in a week.
I really like the magic system, the world, and the villain. I really wish Leigh explain more about the grisha history and its magic system in this one, therefor I gave this first book 3.5 stars.
I think Darkling is unique and somehow relatable as a villain. He is cruel and I don't agree with most of what he did, but... I kinda understand why he did it.
I really recommend you to read the whole trilogy before jumping to the TV show.
