I'll Be Gone in the Dark
by Michelle McNamara
Apparently true crime stories are not for me. This is a very well written book, but it made me paranoid. The names and dates and details can get confusing sometimes, but the narrative is excellent and isn’t just about the killer, but also about McNamara, how she became obsessed with cold cases, and in particular this cold case. The book was published posthumously, so I was very curious how that would be handled, and also if they somehow included his arrest since the book was published just a few months before they arrested the suspected Golden State Killer. It was addressed in the audiobook, which I appreciated. It added more depth to the overall understanding of the book. I definitely recommend this one if you can manage to not get freaked out by true crime stories.
