i love phantom of the opera so this dark and twisty retelling was such a treat for me. the world was beautifully painted and described, it felt like i was in the tunnels below New Orleans at times. we love a damaged MMC that would burn the world down for his woman and Sol is no exception to that rule. he hides with his demons behind his mask until Scarlett draws him into the light and loves him completely, darkness and scars and trauma and revenge. this book also puts a much needed spotlight on mental illness and was done so tastefully, not once making the FMC seem less than for her medical mental diagnoses
