The Railway Children by E. Nesbit
5.0

This book is absolutely beautiful! Not only in its spectacular writing style, but also in the imaginative- yet-realistic-and-well-observed way the children are described. Bobby is couragous and kindhearted, Peter is strong-willed and adventurous, and Phil is funny and caring. My favourite section of the book is the part with the hound in the red jersey - you'll get it if you've read it. I love the way their mother talks to them; as if they're adults. There are so many points to this book that are utterly endearing - Perk's birthday, the old man at the train station, Peter's obsession with trains, the barge. I completely recommend it. It won't take long at all to read and it's not written in confusing or overly complicated. Readitnowpleasethankyou!
