The Daydreams by Laura Hankin

3.0

I had such high hopes for this book based on the marketing as it was supposed to be a ‘Daisy Jones and the Six’ meets ‘I’m Glad My Mom Died’ (aka a 2000s pop culture lover’s dream), but it ended up falling flat for me.

I wish there was more development with the characters — it felt as if they were introduced and that was it. I would have loved to learn more about each character and the reasoning behind certain decisions.

The plot twist could be easily guessed, and left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. While I enjoyed the idea behind the book, the delivery wasn’t where I hoped it to be.

If you love pop culture, tv shows made for teenagers, and cast drama, you may enjoy this. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it.
