Such a cute book with real life insight on what it’s like to live with mental illness. This book follows Dee, a young woman living with bipolar disorder who is about to attend the wedding of her two friends that she met in the psychiatric unit - one she happens to have feelings for. I found this book interesting, because she refers to her hospital stay at a Scarborough, Ontario hospital and reflects on the Canadian healthcare system. As a psychiatric nurse who works only 30min away from where she’s referring to, it’s interesting to read this story from the POV of a patient. Some parts made me laugh out loud, others made me cringe, but ultimately there’s a lot of truth into how she describes her illness and inpatient stay. Looking at the authors bio - it sounds like there might be scenarios that she herself experienced as an individual living with mental illness. Overall, this book is hilarious and heartwarming - definitely recommend.
