I really enjoy Jessen’s writing. This book feels like a hug. It’s happy, sad, funny, romantic, and everything in between. I loved how the scenes were written like the were MOVING, rather than just straight dialogue.
I will say, Olivia was a little bit of a cringe character at the beginning of the book, but this is a romance, so I don’t hold it against anyone. She did mature, I feel, throughout the rest of the book. Olivia and Bennett’s relationship development felt realistic and adult, and it was really refreshing. I loved the descriptions of food and how they brought people together.
I do feel some of the lessons this book was trying to teach us were repeated super often, but with Liv as the main character it makes sense. I would call her unreliable, but she was reliable in the way of how stubborn she is.
