Lightning, so hot right now. 🌩
I liked a lot of what this ambitious debut novel is trying to say, though the story didn’t draw me in as much as I had hoped. I did admire Xingyin’s inherent courage and resolve, she’s a lovely example of a strong female character that isn’t written “like a man” to seem strong. Always great to see a vulnerable, loving character that isn’t a doormat. The magic system wasn’t super interesting for me as a whole, though I was intrigued by the Mind Talents, especially the way that they could be used beneficially.
