In a rare move, I won’t be rating this one out of concerns I have for the author. Group is fascinating, compulsively readable, raw, and topically right up my alley. I couldn’t put it down. But I could not overlook the disturbing cult-like nature of Rosen’s group therapy. Aside from the questionable ethics, the financial obligations are downright terrifying. I don’t believe it’s a spoiler to say that by the end the author ultimately is spending $800 a month and attending sessions multiple times a week - even multiple times a day! I honestly don’t understand how she managed to have any kind of real life outside of her very demanding work schedule, therapy sessions, and ongoing 12 step programs.

But I object to the claims that the details of her sex life are too crass. She’s unflinchingly honest, which I admire a great deal, and it’s HER MEMOIR ffs! Why would we want anything less than her telling us her experience in her own specific words?!
