The Devil's Highway by Luis Alberto Urrea

challenging dark emotional informative reflective sad tense fast-paced

5.0

The Devil's Highway is an absolutely insane story. And then you need to stop and remind yourself that this all actually happened. AND THEN, you need to stop and remind yourself that this sort of thing still happens and that the treatment of those looking to cross the border from Mexico needs to be met with more empathetic eyes.

I really liked the writing style of this book. I have trouble reading a lot of nonfiction because I find it too dry or there is too much subject-specific language that makes it challenging to follow, but this was not the case!

Things could always be worse.
