It is good to be back with Jack McEvoy...now a reporter for the LA Times. A lot has happened in his life...since the story we first were introduced to him, called The Poet.

Like his first book, the reporter is thrust into his actual story, and finds himself in the crosshairs of the villain of the story.

Also, Rachel Waller, FBI agent is reuinited with Jack McEvoy (and us) in this story/book.

I loved how Jack was on the trail for the truth (again), but then finds himself in trouble. It's also fun/good to see Agent Rachel Waller brought into the story, but then having to deal with Jack (emotionally) and also having to walk the tightrope of her life and her work.

There are two stories being told within this book...first, the story of a sick mind...that is killing women, and the second, the death of print media (newspapers) and how the world is ever changing and that the importance of this medium is forever changed.

I was truly interested in the how/why of what the villain(s) were doing what they are/were doing.

The idea of tech farms with servers...is something I know nothing about, but the way the author explored this was incredibly interesting.

I know that there is a third book (so far) within the Jack Envoy series...within the Harry Bosch Universe...so I will pick up that book...as I make my way through the chonological books within this universe.
