This follows Eva and Wilder, who grew up together and have always shared a special connection through music—each other’s muse. But as time goes on, Wilder’s actions push Eva away, and they grow distant. Can they find their way back to each other, or will the challenges they face keep pulling them apart?
What an emotional gripping read. Two characters destined for each other—soulmates. Eva couldn’t resist her feelings and always gave in. She also couldn’t see what was really going on with Wilder. Time and time again, Eva would pick Wilder up, and he would find a way to push her away. Both were battling emotions fueled by passion and a connection that was undeniable. This story explores addiction and mental health through a character barely holding on to the one person who could pull them out—but it’s never that simple. The challenges they face begin to crack the foundation of their bond.
I’m a sucker for angsty reads, but I wanted more angst. I felt like Wilder got away with too much, and Eva gave in too quickly. I was hoping for more groveling, especially after everything he put her through over the years.
Lastly, the audiobook is fantastic, and I highly recommend picking it up in that format. The narrators truly brought the characters to life and captured their emotions beautifully. I’m looking forward to the next book in this duet.
