Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

4.0

Charlotte Bronte is a brilliant sensationalist, but perhaps the true brilliancy of her book lies in the fact that it is a political statement without being blatantly so. She offers commentary on the division of social classes, feminism, and duty to God vs. duty to self. Jane Eyre to me is an admirable embodiment of spirited independence and passion balanced with self-respect and conscience.
