The Killing Code
by Ellie Marney
I was hyped for this book back when I heard about it but was pretty let down. It’s not a bad book, it’s just so meh. It dragged more than I would’ve thought for the mystery/thriller portion of the plot. The sapphic romance was not expected, but having romance at all seemed a bit misplaced since it since it was just kind of there. The way racism was dealt with also felt a bit off too. We have one Black code breaker dealing with it, but it always felt like an afterthought added in like “Well this is this 1940s… gotta be realistic!” If you like historical fiction and girls doing the thing, with some serial killer murder, this could still be the book for you.
