Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson
3.5
adventurous mysterious medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

Overall I liked Tress as a main character, I enjoyed reading her growth and it was interesting to position a character with such limited information out in an expansive world. She starts out quite timid and afraid to ask for what she wants and really grows into someone who can command the room. Her curiosity and fight to what she wants is admirable.

The middle part of the book is strongest where the reader has more information about the world and the goal of the book. Towards the end, things felt a bit too convinent in terms of how they ended. I wasn't as convinced as I felt like I should have been. Rather, the middle part really has quite a few difficulties that need to be figured out before moving forward, which was enjoyable.

The narration of the book... takes some time to get used to.
