Erebus: The Story of a Ship by Michael Palin

5.0

A must read for anyone who likes nautical history and learning about the perils of travelling by sea in the days of wooden ships with sails. This book brings to life some of the crew members on board Erebus through different stages and uses of her as vessel. Fans of Michael Palin himself will also enjoy this although it's less about him but a great deal about the subject matter in question.

Palin is a remarkable storyteller who has painstakingly pieced together the information that was available on the Erebus and brings life into the long since wrecked ship.

Palin's writing style just encourages you to keep reading. I managed to devour this book in several reasonably short sittings as it was very engrossing to read. Under different circumstances I would have read this book from cover to cover at home on my couch on a chilled Saturday afternoon.

Please read this book it's a little delight!
