I loved how messy this book was. The spite house, the broken engagement, the petty and funny revenge opportunities, the depression rep, and the finding love in unexpected places. All of it was fantastic. I loved that Athena was so unapologetic about struggling with depression and burnout and finding love in the most unexpected place. I also loved Matthew who was just trying to protect his little brother, even at the expense of his own happiness. And the friend group that rallied around Athena and their monster romance book club deserves a shout out! Can’t wait to see more of them throughout the Harlot’s Bay series. At First Spite is getting four out of five stars!
