My reading of this was split in half, and at first I found it somewhat unimpressive, but I think I just wanted to read something plot-driven and this is not that. I picked it up again a few months later and immediately now I love it- I just don’t think you should read it if you’re too busy; it needs the ambivalence of the bull-fight viewer. And also, Brett’s never done anything wrong and I love her.
