To The Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey
3.0
Eowyn Ivey can create such full scenes and characters. Her storytelling is masterful and I highly appreciate her ability to do magical realism well.
I was initially put off by the letter correspondence format, but I was quickly won over.
The story of the expedition in Alaska absorbed me. I was less enamored with Sophie’s story, but I think it is because Col. Allen Forrester’s time in Alaska drew me in more.
It’s been a while since I read The Snow Child by the same author, but I believe that I enjoyed The Snow Child more.
Content Warning: infertility, death, colonialism, fight for survival
