I was very excited to pick this up, I loved Nakamura's Thief, and I was intriqued by the premise. Around the end of the first half of this book, I began to understand the low ratings Cult X has. I had fun reading this book, I enjoyed especially part one and some twists in part two.
This book presents some interesting issues present in Japanese society, however, it does so in quite a crude manner. Also, I don't mind sex in books in general at all, but the amount of weird sexual scenes in this book was just ridiculous, and most of them just rubbed me the wrong way.
The worst was was probably when Sawatari decided to rape a woman, and she way enjoying it by the end.

I don't regret reading this, even though it wasn't what I expected, but there are many other books by Nakamura that are amazing and worth reading more than this, especially The Thief and The Boy in the Earth.
