Interborough by Santino Hassell

“It could be the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox, and I still wouldn’t be able to harvest the fucks to give.”

This book has stolen my heart. Even though I loved loved loved First and First - there's just something about Ray that makes me love him so much.

“Here’s to making David and Caleb happy, and ensuring they’re over each other.”

Oli's quick cameo was beyond perfect and I just loved Caleb totally checking Ray out and then denying it.

Santino has a magical way with words and I finished this book in one sitting and it was the greatest thing I've come across in May. I have so many parts of this book bookmarked and I just want to go back and re-read all of them.

What resonated the most with me about this was Ray being in the closet because in not-so-many words being "out and proud" is just such a white privilege person thing b/c individuals of color in this country have to deal with so many more prejudices that who is out and who is in their business about it is the LAST thing on a POC's mind -- and it was just so fucking well done. This story by far takes the 5* cake from me for it. I was so emotional about this whole thing!

"I figured getting married is a good idea since his insurance through the youth center is shit and mine is great and free.

Way to suck the romance of it, Michael."

"I would never a dude in a slick tailored suit who could order my bidding with nothing more than a cool stare and a head nod. But, did I even want that kind of super power? Mark shot me a furtive stare as he wiped down the bar, and the brief tightening of his mouth was almost conspiratorial. A subliminal message between two working stiffs, *I can't wait until the suit fucks off so I can relax.*

I grinned.

Nah, douchebag power wasn't something I needed. I was good being a broke ass bastard with a side-order of asshole."

"I was fresh out of fucks for stuck up white people and couldn't be bothered to reply."

"Oh great. I'd just escaped a Nunzio and Michael drama of the century and now I had all of my other friends mooning over each other. Lifestyles of the pissed off and the Puerto Ricans was a soap opera that needed to end."

God, what a brilliantly written book with some ridiculously hot sex (of course).
