Beneath the Surface
by Emily McIntire
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 15/10 STARS 3.5/5 ON THE SPICE
This is the fourth and final book in the Sugarlake Series. It can be read as a standalone but to get the full experience, you should definitely read books 1-3 first.
**CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS IF NEEDED**
Anyone who has read the series from the beginning knows we have been waiting for Lilys story since the first book. And damn, did Emily deliver. Lily is a broken woman on the run just trying to survive and make a new life for herself. A PI is hired to find her and when he does there is an instant attraction on his part. From there the story moves quickly. You fall in love, your heart gets broken, you're taken a ride that quite literally makes your head spin, but I promise the end result IS SO DAMN WORTH IT! This book wrecked me in ways I wasn't ready for. I cried hard in the middle of the story and then again at the end because I knew this world has now been concluded. As always Emily did not disappoint, she gave us the closure we so desperately needed for not only Lily, but for everyone in the series.
Y'all, I always said that Beneath the Stands was my favorite, well, I now have a new one. This book was EVERYTHING I expected it to be but also, so much MORE. Emily destroyed me in the best possible way. I fell in love with her writing style almost immediately when reading Beneath the Stars and then when I realized her story lines involved mental health issues, growth and healing... let's just say I then fell in love with her.
Read the series, thank me later. You will not be dissapointed!
