All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata

4.0

Before this, I had only read From Lukov With Love and I was daunted by all of the other Mariana Zapata titles. She is infamous for her really long romance books with these very intense slow burns. Like in this one, they don't even kiss until the 77% mark! But now that all of her works are being traditionally published, I decided I wanted to give her another try. All Rhodes Lead Here was the one I have been the most interested in for a while (which is weird because I assumed the plot was very different than what it ended up being).

I loved From Lukov and I loved this one! I have always maintained that no romance book needs to be 500+ pages, but I think Mariana Zapata might be the exception because she uses all 600 pages with such mastery. I could have read 100 more because I was smiling, laughing, and crying along with all of the characters. I was having such visceral reactions to Mariana's writing. She writes scenes that fall into some of my favorite tropes without being too "tropey" or "cliche." Like... when Rhodes said, "who did this to you?" I actually screamed.

The progression of Ora's relationship with both Rhodes and Amos was so realistic and so sweet. I love a good single-dad romance (even though it also isn't really a single-dad romance???) because not only is Rhodes and Ora's relationship something sweet, but we also get great relationship dynamics from Ora and Amos, and Amos and Rhodes.

All of the side-plots are also so fleshed out and ones that you actually care about, unlike in other romance books. The side plot with Ora's mom was one of the most standout instances. Her mom's presence is what motivates the entire story. And while the ending of this plotline is sad, it is realistic and bittersweet.

I look forward to any further Mariana Zapata books I might decide to read.
