All The Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham
3.75

All the Dangerous Things is a slow burn thriller told from the point of view of an insomniac mother. The novel is broken into short alternating Then and Now chapters.

As per usual with an unreliable narrator, there are story threads to unweave in order to discover the truth. This truly is a slow burn that follows Isabelle's lack of cognitive function due to sleep deprivation. I found some of the pacing to be off at times due to the structure, but also the Now chapters including pre-disappearance plot.

None of the characters are especially likeable but I found myself really feeling for some of them by the end. Many poor choices are made, so tread with caution if you're not a fan of unlikeable/unrelatable characters.

I appreciate the author's intentions surrounding the themes of motherhood, mental health, trauma, guilt, and grief, especially after reading the author's note.

By the 75% mark, I'd crossed off the majority of all my theories and was quite satisfied by all the reveals.

Thank you Minotaur Books for the physical ARC in exchange for an honest review.
