I did not really like this book...took me a long time to finish simply because I didn't enjoy reading it.

The main character, Randell seems to keep getting into fights which were described in a very long drawn out way. I did not enjoy reading so much detail about "his form" nor did I enjoy reading about his relationsip....to me that seemed like it was just there to fill the pages.

I seem to be in minority of people who didn't like this, so maybe there is something I am missing? Like how he came to work with the police? The author doesn't ever explain that....so you are meant to just accept that some random guy off the street was brought in to be an interpreter for the police and is then invited to crime scenes? Bizarre!

I have given 2 stars because I appreciate that the author tried to do something different with what was "just another crime story" by adding in bits about Chinese culture and a romance storyline, its just not his fault I didn't enjoy reading about it. I also liked that the main character reminded me a bit of Dexter Morgan from Jeff Lindsay's series of books, I feel the characters were very similar in their personalities and that's not a bad thing.
