Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain by Portia de Rossi

5.0

I like Portia a lot, but I didn't think there was any way I would find this to be a well-written and compelling book. But I TOTALLY did. This book was painful, sad, and overwhelming sometimes, but I found that I could relate to a lot of it, too. It shifted some of the ways that I think about what it means to have disordered eating behaviors. It could be pretty triggery for people who are in recovery for anorexia or bulimia or binge-eating; the descriptions of her internal monologues and details of her behaviors are quite cruel at times. However, I didn't find it gratuitous.
