Bloody Banquet by Leod D. Fitz

4.0

A strong sequel. Much better than Awfully Appetizing. Walter enjoys solitary life and regular meals composed of decomposing bodies. He owns a mortuary, so when he gets hungry he can always grab something to snack.

His life became slightly complicated as he’s offended a powerful vampire. To make matters worse, an adolescent huntress whose mother Walter ate wants him to adopt her. Add almost indestructible Chimeras and local drug dealers to the mix and enjoy violent and darkly hilarious show.

Walter grew as a character and Fitz’s plotting skills developed as well. The way the threads and seemingly unimportant details come together near the end impressed me and made me want to read another entry in the series as soon as possible.

To make things clear - Corpse Eater series isn’t subtle. In many ways it’s over-the-top and some readers will find the humor offensive and characterization lacking. That said, I really liked it.
