Approximate rating: 3.5/5* stars (subject to change, see below!)
TW: sexual assault, attempted rape
So I had a hard time rating this book. I definitely didn't hate the book, and there's nothing I inherently dislike. But there was something about the book that I didn't quite connect to. This could be a case of good book at the wrong time. I really liked the overall concept of the book. I thought it was very well written and I liked the social commentary on woman's bodies and rights, duty vs. belief, and living in a patriarchy.
The issue might be in the way I read the book. I listened to the audiobook, and while the cast was fantastic, I think I lost some of the content on the way. It might be because I was just personally spacey, or maybe I really just had a hard time connecting to the characters in the beginning. There was one point about 3/4 of the way through where I had been listening to one MAIN CHARACTER and I had JUST realized he was a MC and had no idea his role (LOL on my end).
So, with that said, I really think this is a book I will need to reread (and physically read) down the road to give a better review!
Sorry to disappoint but I definitely think it could be worth the read if you enjoy Mindy McGinnis!
