Love at First Fight by Mary Jayne Baker

3.0

🤍/♥️ Gives a tiny bit of description and then fades to black. But the banter is a little descriptive at times.

I really enjoyed the book until the last 100 pages. The synopsis of the book says it’s about Birdie and Ben. Which is technically true but the last 100 ish pages the main characters switched and it became about Ben’s brother Cal and his fiancĂ© Hattie who is Birdies best friend. Now I love Cal and Hattie’s characters but their story line did not need the drama at the end of this book and that ruined the book for me.

Also, this is a British written book. Which isn’t a bad thing but as someone who isn’t British I know some things went over my head.

Joanna was the worst and I wish she wasn’t a character in this book. She is Cals ex who became famous and tried to seduce Cal and break up his wedding. Which is the last 100 pages. The book just didn’t need this. Ben and birdies story line stood on its own and we didn’t need a last quarter drama session for no reason. Also the fact that the drama got so big that Hattie called off the wedding and got pregnant and wanted to just single mom it up without talking to Cal drove me insane.
