Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
5.0
The timing of me reading this book couldn’t be more perfect as tomorrow is New Years Eve, and 2018 is just literally right around the corner. I am excited by the insights the author shared that motivated me and made me want to be a better version of myself. Or more specifically, I felt the author reminded me of things I actually already knew, but needed to be reminded of. She addressed many of the same lies I have listened to or fed myself for most of my life. Rachel’s way of debunking these lies was beneficial and inspiring.
I have followed the author on social media for a couple of years and in reading her tone and voice I felt like I was sitting down with one of my girlfriends. Personally I am currently in a pretty crummy slump/funk, and I felt like as I read the book that I was sitting with a friend as she politely, yet firmly and lovingly told me to get my act together, take some personal responsibility for where I am at, and make my own decisions to get myself back to where I really need and want to be.
I think I will return to these chapters more than once to remind myself of these truths; marking up the pages with passages that will mean different things to different versions of the woman I am becoming. I like that the style is such that you can read just a chapter or 2 at a time, but enjoyable enough that I wanted to keep reading through to the end.
(**noted: I received a advanced reader copy of this book. However, the opinions and review are my own.)
