I loved the first installment of Emily Wilde's story as much as I expected to. Having a background in W B Yeats's writing allowed me to go into the the book with a good knowledge base of the far. The academic writing made me pine for more books of this sort - academic fantasy, although not necessarily dark academia. The Grumpy/Sunshine dynamic makes the exploits through the nearly arctic setting feel warm and familiar. I identify with Emily's desire to learn and her fascination with faeries but also with Wendell's ease making friends in the new community. Undoubtedly, this will end up as one of my favorite books of the year, and I still have two more in the series to enjoy.
